Since I nanny everyday and usually pick up two or so extra babysitting jobs (like right now) I have spent a lot of time around parents recently. I have made an interesting observation, women never change. They are still gossipy and clickish etc. even after they become mothers. I am fortunately able to observe this since I take my twin boys to all of their after school events. I noticed the other day at the boys baseball practice that a group of moms were just chatting away together with a couple other moms just sitting awkwardly by themselves. To me it looked like high school all over again. Also, I have decided there are definitely at least 3 specific types of moms (Keep in mind that I do not pretend to be an expert in the field of communication...even though it IS was my degree will be in HA!).

Type A, the "annoying mom." This is the wife that is always yapping about something. To people who want to listen, people who don't, her husband and children etc. I'm thinking a Kate Gosselin here (sorry to pick on you Kate, but really you're the golden example). In the end some moms just need to chill out. Your kids are seven, if they get mud on their shirt you can wash it. There is one mom in particular who feels the need to give everyone else advice on their kids...oddly enough her child is rather bratty...

Type B, the "self-absorbed mom." This is the mom that will let her child(ren) run out in front of a speeding care because she is too busy talking on her cell phone, looking in the mirror, or telling another mom (who doesn't care) about how wonderful she is. She is more concentrated on personal appearance than her children. I'm thinking the mother in "The Nanny Diaries."

Type C, the awesome amazing mother. This is the mom that still has energy, her personality shows through making her very attractive. She loves her children and worries over them but not in a pessimistic way. For an example I have chosen Kate Winslet in "Finding Neverland." She lets her children get away with things to a certain point i.e. lets them be KIDS.

So there you go bloggy friends. I know many of you are mothers and Type A, B, or C I have the utmost respect for the work you do. Keep up the hard work :).

Weddings and more!

Hey! So as I mentioned before, I am working on a wedding magazine for a class. I thought I would put up one of the articles I had written. I would love comments from all of you since I know many of you have been brides or are brides-to-be or you just love weddings...like me. Here it is! I have to get graphics and pics for it so it's slightly bland right now. We're just working on content for now though :)

Have you ever looked at a photo of yourself and cringed? The lighting shows those not so perfect spots on your skin, you’ve gained ten pounds and your hair is flying everywhere? That’s definitely not what you want to see when you look at your wedding photos! Thankfully, we have St. Augustine photographer Perry Knotts to give you tips on how to look like a perfect movie star in your wedding photos.

• If you’re going to take your photos outside, take them in the evening hours. Depending on the season the times could range from 6-8 p.m.
Perry says, “The natural glow from the setting sun will reflect off your skin giving you a beautiful glow.”

• Try to pose at an angle for the camera with your body diagonal to the camera or put your hands on your hips with elbows facing out slightly.
Perry Says, “With photography being a flat medium this would allow some depth and make people look slim. If you face the camera directly you could end up looking wider than you really are.”
• Don’t wear heavy make-up.

Perry says, “Although make-up might improve your look from far away in the close-up pictures your make-up will be obvious and look caked on.”

• Wear a hairstyle with your hair pulled back around your face.
Perry Says, “The main reason is because of wind. You don't have to worry so much about strands of hair flying across the brides face.”

• Schedule a large amount of time between the wedding and reception for photos.

Perry says, “Time can go by so quickly photographing the family, bridal party, etc. Sometimes there is no time left for photographs of the bride and groom alone.”

• Talk to your photographer.
Perry says, “Just be relaxed and let your photographer know in advance of anything you’re expecting photography wise.”

If you follow all these tips you will be able to display your wedding photos with pride. You can be that slim sexy bride you’ve always dreamed of being.

NEW BLOG

Hey Everyone!!! I met her while interning in D.C. this summer and since we both went to school in FL we hit it off. I don't really like to bring politics into my blog (everyone is entitled to their own opinion) so that's all I'm gonna say. It's pretty cool seeing someone you know personally on TV though.

My nanny job is going well. The twin boys are just adorable. They have so many after school activities though, I feel like a total soccer mom and I even have two car seats in the back of my car to prove it! (WILL not be driving to the bars with those things!!) So far I haven't killed either of the children and I have managed to run them around to all their activities looking decent which is a challenge.

In other news I have a Social Media class this semester and one of our assignments is to start a blog...I am so totally ahead of the curve HA! However, I'm not going to use this blog (my teacher has a disturbing way of putting up personal assignments on the overhead) since I don't want any of my personal life shared on the overhead with the class. Also, we are supposed to have a specific theme for our blog which I do not really have for this blog. So any ideas??? If I had a hobby I would write about it...but I don't. I just eat, drink, sleep, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I was thinking about writing a blog about how to NOT look like a typical tourist. Basically it would just be for humorous purposes. Since I live in a town infested by this plague we call tourists I can get great pictures of fanny-packin' short-short wearin' tourists haha. I thought about having all of you submit some pics of funny looking tourists. I know this sounds ridiculous but I've felt so guilty about abandoning my blog that I literally had to work up courage to check my page. I was afraid all of you had left me :(.

Wow that is just sad...but true...but sad. Anyway, I really miss blogging so I am going to try and get back into the swing of things. I am totally going to need advice from you internet savvy friends for quite a few of my comm classes. All this new media stuff on the internet is all that we talk about. You would think that sounds fun but of course school takes the fun out of the internet...TRUST ME.

I'm also enrolled in a magazine writing class. The teacher is awesome and I have four really good friends in the class. Basically all we have to do for the class is write four articles a piece and put them together for a magazine. Since we are all girls we chose to do a wedding magazine. I KNOW a bunch of you out there can help me out on that one!!!

In other news, I have started to feel old my friends. The whole carpe diem, party party all the time philosophy I had for the first few years of school is changing into...it's not worth the hangover or money philosophy. Party all the time was fun but my liver has informed me that this is no longer an option. I wouldn't feel so awkward about this if I were 26 but I'm not...not even close. Advice? Is this just something that happens when you find someone you love and are ready to settle down? I do not know.

O.K. so I have missed you all. Please don't forget about me! I will try to make my postings regular once again. They won't be every day but there will be 2 or 3 a week (hopefully). He is so adorable and didn't forget me at all!

I have finally gotten to relax and enjoy myself for a couple weeks which I didn't think would happen. I'm the kind of person that when I don't have a secure cash flow I get stressed out and nervous. I can just relax and enjoy my life for these next two weeks. Life is good. No money worries. So bloggy friends I am going to go relax on the beach! My little sis is coming down from IN today and moving in with me! VERY EXCITED about that :). I'll be back ;)

Goodbye City Life

So it's official! I bought my airplane ticket to FL for next Tuesday! I am SO excited to be going back. There are many things I will miss about D.C. though. This summer was the first time in my life I've actually lived in a real city.

Things I will miss about the city.

1. I LOVE the food. Even if I lived here my whole life I would never be able to try every restaurant with cool ethnic foods. Living by the ocean you can get your share of seafood but that's about it.

2. I love walking everywhere. I do miss my car terribly because of the convenience factor but I feel much healthier walking everyday...it's also done wonders for my figure.

3. The energy in the city. You just want to go out there and DO things when you see all the people around doing things in the city.

4. The professionalism. FINALLY I'm not the only one sitting there rolling their eyes when people are behaving obnoxiously or immaturely. In college that behavior gets you attention. In the professional world...not so much.

Things I will NOT miss about the city.

1. The PRICE of food. Seriously, I could spend all my life's savings in three days going to eat at some of the restaurants.

2. Walking everywhere...I KNOW I said this is one of the things I'll miss (and it is) but there are times (like when it's pouring down rain, or feels like 130 degrees) when I will not miss walking at all.

3. The gross smells. I don't know where they come from (and I don't want to know) but walking around the city you can inhale some pretty disturbing aromas.

4. Rude people. Enough said. (Now there are rude people everywhere but you don't have to be crammed into the metro with them etc.)

Well bloggy friends never fear. I will be telling you lots of wonderful stories about my life in FL...which I happen to think are more exciting (and they definitely involve more alcohol). These next few days I'll add more reflections on city life.

My Wedding Dress

Hello lovely bloggers!

All right so you may remember a previous post here about how I'm planning a wedding for myself even though I do not technically have a groom...yet.

Well I thought I would share my dream wedding dress with all of you. I have two problems with this dress.

1. I can't afford it
2. I cannot afford it (darn you Vera Wang for being so good and expensive!)

Oh and I haven't actually seen it on me. But I figure since I KNOW how I look in clothes it's pretty safe to say this dress would be perfect. Although a country theme is implied in the picture THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. I will have a beach themed wedding with a reception right on the ocean. Feast your eyes!

Also, if any of you have any great ideas how I could come by this dress (in ooooh let's say 2 years) without the $4,000 price tag I would be very happy to hear them!!

The Importance of EVERY person.

ONCE AGAIN I apologize.

Work has been SO crazy lately. As I've said, I work for a publishing company and one of our books that just launched is doing particularly well. This is great for the company but NOT for my stress level...or my precious blog, which is more important than my stress level. Maybe.

O.K., so today wonderful bloggy friends I am to ask a question: When did some people decide they were more important than other people?

I ask this because I believe the best types of people are the people who do not make OTHER people feel bad about themselves. Wow, that was complicated to express in words. We all know these types of people...the person who just roles their eyes when you disagree with them...the person who cuts you off while driving because THEY have to be somewhere important...the person who shoves past you up the escalator...the person who drops trash on the sidewalk or out the widow of their care because THEY are too important to find a trash can. The people who are older, wiser, prettier, smarter, richer and think that makes the better than the "little" people.

I say NO. I say that every person's opinion is important. I say that every person's voice should be heard.

Here are 3 groups of people I would be more interested in listening to than politicians and movie stars.

1. Children the naivest and most innocent of people sometimes have the most profound things to say...because they have not been jaded by the corruption of the world. Their voices should be heard.

2. People from other countries (this is some of you bloggy friends!). They have a different view than American's and are so well traveled. They are also usually bi-lingual which is AMAZING. Since I've never had the money to leave the U.S.(except for Canada)I am fascinated to hear about other cultures and have basically stalked all the international students at my school. (Stalked is an exaggeration but I have dated most of the foreign men...with maybe a LITTLE stalking thrown in haha).

3. Someone who is a different religion than I am. I was talking to a friend of mine that is a fairly orthodox Jew last night and the conversation was so enlightening! In the end I was actually more sure about my faith but I was able to understand and appreciate Judaism better than before.

I would rather listen to these people any day.

Edna Mode (and an apology)

Bloggy friends! I have missed you!

I feel horrible. I do not even have the words to apologize for my absence (and I don't usually have trouble finding words considering the lengths of some posts).

Today, I must say that I adore "K" my internship coordinator...at least that's what I think she is. She quite a bit older than me but dresses fabulously. She reminds me exactly of Edna E. Mode from the Disney movie "The Incredibles." She has the short haircut and the glasses.

She has been telling about her current love interest. She is just so delightful and funny and always so energetic and positive. Just wanted to dedicate a post to her! Still busy at work but I will try my darndest (word?) to make sure I do not leave all of you again!

Trials of a Beauty Queen

Hey guys! Today is super busy at work.

So Carrie Prejean is writing a book. You can read an article about it here. In this book she promises a "tell all" about what happened with her "Miss California" title and such as well as the controversy surrounding her answer. I actually had the chance to see her in person you can see the post about it here.

What are you're opinions on this book? I'm interested to see if there is a lot behind the story or if it's pretty much how it just looked. I'm not a huge fan, but I don't really see anything wrong with voicing your opinion. She was asked her 'opinion' on the question and I feel that Perez Hilton knew he was putting her in an awkward position. What do you guys think? Was she set up? Did she answer the question appropriately? Was there really a conspiracy (of sorts) to strip her of her title?

p.s. I keep meaning to mention this but I keep forgetting. I LOVE all of your comments and try hard to visit everyone's page. Unfortunately, there's a weird glitch with my blogger account and even if I follow a blog it doesn't show up when I log on. So the easiest way for me to comment is just to go through all of my followers everyday and visit those lovely blogs! So please make sure you follow me so I can visit you and leave comments!

Advice for a (hopefully) future nanny?

Hello everyone! So the week has been off to a pretty good start.

Works a little on the busy side, but that makes the day go faster (although it leaves less time for all of you *tear*)

I have enough money to cover my school tuition and I was able to save a little extra! Yay!

I have a possible nanny job lined up for me when I return to FL. I am expecting a call from the mom today or tomorrow.

It's a pretty cushy job 2-7 Mon.-Fri. It's just watching one little girl who is 5. Apparently the little girl is 5 going on 20 which makes me imagine her as Dakota Fanning in Uptown Girls haha.

I thought I would ask advice from all my lovely blogger buddies out there. I know a lot of you are mom's or older sisters, aunts, etc. What would you like to hear from the person that was going to be watching your little loved one? The family is very conservative and the parents are both very successful with the same hopes for their child. So let me know what you would want to hear!!! Thanks so much everyone. Happy Tuesday!

Apparently I'm Engaged (don't offer your congratulations yet)

So today I have a funny story.

I get a message from the BF saying,

"Did you tell people we were engaged?"

Now I love the BF dearly but I have told him many times that I do not want to get married until I graduate college and such. Although he has asked me to marry him (drunkenly), I have always told him to wait until I'm a little older (or ask me when he's sober haha). Basically, he knows not to ask me for at least another year or so. So today when I got this message from him I was slightly shocked.

Me: "No! Where did you hear that from?"
BF: "You're room mate (in FL) just texted me asking if we were."
Me: "I never said anything to her about being engaged...that's so weird."
BF: "She said she got a postcard in the mail with your name that said, 'Congrats on the engagement' and talked about the places and venues for a wedding."

Well friends....I got caught! A couple weeks ago, while bored on the internet (this happens a lot), I decided to peruse wedding websites and see what was out there. Well this one darn website would not let me see any of their fun wedding packages, or dresses, or reception ideas until I signed my life over to them...well not my life but all my personal info. Finally, frustrated because I wanted to see this dress I filled out their stupid form. This form asked me the date of my engagement, my finacee's name, where the wedding would be, my address, etc. I basically just put the BF's name and picked some random date and place.

Thankfully I had the sense to not put my home address. I can't imagine what my poor mother would have thought about a postcard like that...and I would have been subjected to ENDLESS teasing (which will still happen with the BF I'm sure).

As it was I had a good laugh and told the BF what happened...I had previously mentioned that I used his name on a wedding website, so it wasn't a complete shocker.

Anyway, that is the story. So feel free to offer your congratulations...apparently I'm engaged!

7 things that show my heart

Hey all! My poem is Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe. The whole things is rather long but it talks about a strong love that lasts forever.

3. My song is "The Book of Love" by Peter Gabriel.

4. A quote "Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing." Mother Teresa. (I've posted this quote before...I just think it's so beautiful).

5. Item of clothing hmmm would have to be a white summer dress. I don't know why this shows my heart but I just feel it does. It's soft and delicate.

6. My place is by the ocean...passionate and strong.

7. Hmmm the Disney Princess would have to be Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I can't imagine being any other princess. She's the only really blonde one, she loves animals, her colors are pink and blue and she's a little ditzy. That pretty much sums me up!

I will tag:

Manju
L
Not the Rockefellers
POSH AND POISED
Jessica
s. ealine

Have a lovely weekend!

Relationships and Scrubs

So last night I got on hulu.com (because my life is so exciting) and was THRILLED to find that they had many episodes from season 8 of Scrubs. I got into Scrubs after a whirlwind romance with a beautiful German boy (one day I'll tell you all about it...in my wilder years, before the BF, whirlwind romances were my specialty).

Anyway, after German boy went back to Germany I was a little (A LOT) lovesick. So I used to watch the show because in some odd way it made me feel closer to him since it was his favorite show and he quoted it at times (yes I realize this was pitiful behavior).

Even though I had seen a couple episodes before and found them mediocre at best pre-German boy, I started appreciating the show for its humor and not just because of German boy. In fact, I came to love the show and the characters. So last night in one of the episodes I watched, 3 of the couples were having fights in their relationships.

Elliot was mad at J.D. because he wasn't saying "I love you" the right way. Boy did this ring a bell! The BF and I had exactly the same argument when he was just here for a visit. I (unfortunately) was in the role of crazy Elliot. I got upset because I didn't feel like he said "I love you" like he meant it. It seemed like a big problem to me at the time.

Sometimes TV is so useful, watching Elliot on TV made me realize how crazy I must have seemed. Although I could completely relate to her character, I also got to see J.D.'s side of the story.

I started thinking...at the beginning of relationships every moment is the perfect "I love you" moment to look deeply into the other persons eyes. But as you start being with that person constantly, doing your laundry with them, brushing your teeth, those moments become more spread out. They do still happen (at the end of the episode there was a perfect "I love you" moment between J.D. and Elliot) and they are even more perfect if you think about it.

They are more perfect because they still love you after they have seen you brush your teeth, or pluck or eyebrows, or lick your fingers after eating Cheetos, or whatever awkward things you do. I just have to say thanks to Scrubs for making me see myself in a different light. If you would like to be enlightened you can watch the episode HERE. Warning you will become addicted to this show.

My BF Makes me Fat.

My boyfriend makes me fat.

All right, that statement is an exaggeration. There is, however, truth to this statement. I have never known a girl who has gotten into a serious relationship and lost weight. I am not saying this never happens but this is definitely the exception.

Now I have been suspicious that the BF was the reason I gained an extra 5-10 lbs. but this past visit confirmed my suspicions! When he first saw me after a month this was his reaction:

BF: Wow! You look amazing. You're so trim...you haven't looked this way since we started dating!
ME: I know! It's great! I walk all the time and eat pretty healthy.

After his week and a half visit I am no longer so "trim" anymore. Now I am not saying I am fat...I have always been much closer to the skinny side...BUT I am saying that my body which was nice and firm when he showed up is now a little more jiggly.

I have analyzed why this has happened to me.

1. Two incomes are better than one. In other words combined we have more money for food...therefore I eat more, even when eating is no necessary.
2. You don't go to restaurants alone. A significant other provides a wonderful option for eating out...excessively.
3. You drink. Once again you don't usually drink alone therefore you consume more alcohol when your significant other is around.
4. You lay around a lot and don't exercise. The BF is just very comfortable to lay on.
5. Pizza. It's fast and convenient and delicious. We ate pizza twice while he was here. Each time I consumed a medium pizza by myself.

So all of these things are little things that, when compiled all together, equal weight gain.

I am trying to figure out ways to fight these problems when I return to FL. Any suggestions??

Yay! Wallis

Then I was also tagged by "Lipstick on the Cup." Be sure to check out her blog too! She has great beauty tips!

I'd like to tag...
1. Jessica
2. Kym
3. Katie
4. Ella

So with these awards I'm supposed to list 10 things that you may or may not know about me.

1. I cannot touch paper towels. People find this extremely strange but to me the feeling of the paper towel against my finger tips is like that whole "nails on a chalkboard" feeling.

2. I am organized but in a crazy way. You would never think looking at my room that I'm organized but I know exactly where everything is.

3. I don't eat hamburgers. This is not because I'm a vegetarian or vegan, I just simply do not like the texture of ground beef AT ALL.

4. I have really sensitive skin. I can't use a lot of hair products or make-up/skin products because the chemicals in them irritate my skin. It is really annoying.

5. I don't stay mad for more than 10 minutes tops. Sometimes it's so frustrating because I WANT to stay mad...but I can't.

6. I am a true believer that true beauty comes from the inside. The more I get to know a person and like a person the more beautiful they become to me. (Side note: This does not count for guys I date. I don't know why but I usually thing that they're worse looking the longer I'm with them. Excepting the current BF of course.)

7. I get embarrassed very easily! Pretty much anything embarrasses me. It's something I've really struggled to get over (and I've gotten better about it!).

8. This goes with number 7 but I blush. I mean I get BRIGHT red. It's really obvious and then somebody has to make a stupid comment like "Look how red she is!" and I just get MORE red.

9. Every time I eat there are crumbs EVERYWHERE. I do not know how this happens. It doesn't matter how careful I am there are always always crumbs.

10. I'm usually positive and rarely complain. The only time I'm negative is when I'm studying for an exam in which case I moan for hours "I'm going to fail this! I'm going to fail this!" Moral of the story: Stay away from me around exam time!

Also! Thanks to Sarah from Postcards from Far Away for awarding me the Kreativ Blogger award :). I'm so very honored.

Thanks so much to everyone for reading! One of my favorite things in this world to do is eat (can I get an "amen"?). Unfortunately, due to the unstable economy (of my bank account and his) we don't really have the funds to enjoy D.C.'s finest restaurants. Last night was nothing short of a miracle! We ate at an expensive restaurant in Georgetown and could afford it! How? (good question).

It was the 75th anniversary of Martin's Tavern (the place we ate). For their 75th anniversary they rolled back the price of all the food on their menu to the original price the food was when the restaurant opened in 1933. What does this mean? It means that their Filet Mignon was $1.65. I really thought that I died and went to heaven. The only things they did not roll back prices for were drinks and deserts. If my dear BF had only been able to suppress his love of good beer for one night our bill would have been $5.00! This was for an appetizer of clamari, appetizer of onion rings, entree of Filet Mignon, and entree of fish and chips. Unfortunately, one beer was $5.50, more expensive than the whole dinner put together! The BF had to get two so the final tab equaled $15.99 (still not bad!). Without the roll back price our meal would have been $81.80. I was just so excited by this that I felt the need to share the steal with all you lovely bloggers!

(Heaven on Earth...Mike's Tavern)

Moral of the story: It is possible to be cheap and eat good food! I had a busy work week and Sunday and yesterday I was sick. I am back though and cannot wait to catch up on your blogs.

So me and the BF have been together about 8 months. Since he is here visiting (yay!) and I was sick yesterday (not "yay") we got to spend some quality time with eachother while I laid on the couch and he nursed me back to health with ginger ale and chicken noodle soup.

We got to talking about our relationship. Now I have dated lots and lots of guys but have only been in a couple real relationships. My longest relationship before the current BF was 5 months.

On the other hand, he has never really casually dated he has had around 4 or 5 long-term relationships. He is very picky and has never done the whole "hook-up" thing because he is too picky and has to know the girl before hooking-up. (I know he's like the opposite of all other men on this earth)

Anyway to get to the point, I'm not very experienced at this whole relationship thing. Apparently, our conversation yesterday was a first for my BF. I simply told him the things I would change about him. Now let it be said that I believe he is as close to perfect as a human being can be. The things I would change were little unimportant things (i.e. I wish that he liked laying out by the pool with me.) Then I asked him what he would change about ME.

He turned to me with a look of horror on his face.

BF: I can't tell you that!
Me: Why not?
BF: Because that's breaking the rules.
Me: What rules?
BF: You never tell your girlfriend she's fat and you never tell her what you would change about her.
Me: (still confused) Why not? I told you what I would change about you.
BF: That's different.

Why ladies? Why is it different? I do not have overly sensitive feelings. If he never tells me what he would change how can I ever change for the better?

He did end up telling me after much prodding and phrases like "I can't believe I'm doing this." He told me he wished I ate more vegetables and less salt (I like lots of salt on everything!). That was about all I got out of him.

So I ask, in your relationships does your man tell you what's wrong?

Song of the Day: "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys

2nd award YAY!

So thank you to Jessica at Alright, Still who gave me the wonderful "Kreativ Blogger" award! I am so excited but I need ideas. I want to take advantage of everything the city has to offer with him but there are problems. Well really there is only one problem...money...we're both very low on it. I would LOVE suggestions. I know some of you live in D.C. so it would be great to hear from you! Also for the rest of you readers I would love ideas of cheap things to do?? Things that don't require a lot of money that are great couple activities. I have a couple things planned to splurge on. Also we've been to a lot of the museums already unfortunately. Anyway any ideas would be great thanks!

Song of the Day: "She Want's It" Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent.

The secrete to success with men (and my first blog award!)

O.K. so I got the idea for my post today from a conversation I was having with my two girl friends at dinner on Sunday (the Pad Thai was AMAZING).
One gf is single while the other has been in a three year relationship. We were discussing Sex in the City (shocker) and how the women in the show do not necessarily have beautiful faces (although they all have great bodies).
I know from experience being smart and having confidence will get you more guys than being attractive but being insecure and acting ditzy.

Let me tell you a story. When I started high school I was very shy (it was my first time at public school, I had attended very small exclusive private schools till then). I had a friend we'll call "K." We had been friends and neighbors since we were five. K was an extremely cute girl but I did not believe she was more attractive than me. EVERY guy had a crush on K. I would stand in her shadow and watch in awe. Then I figured out her secret CONFIDENCE. No she wasn't the most beautiful girl but she knew how to show off what she had. I wish I could tell you HOW to get confidence. I can only tell you how I got mine.

It happened in high school too. I had a big crush on this guy and he led me on then dropped me cold for one of the umm..."faster" girls. I cannot tell you how crushed I was. I'm sure every girl has had a similar feeling. After a year of pining for him he finally graduated and I didn't have to see him everyday anymore. That summer I got a tan, I invested in a straightner and basically went through a transformation. I achieved the mindset that I would never find anyone I liked more than that crush so I decided I didn't care. Once that happened I lost my shyness. I wasn't interested in any of other guys anyway so when they started giving me attention I didn't get nervous or awkward anymore. I was confident, because I knew I didn't need them. It's like a never ending cycle. Once you have confidence you get a lot of attention which gives you more confidence.

I have never lost that confidence and I never will. Have I been hurt since then? YES, but I always knew there was a better guy out there and I would just keep looking till I found him. I sincerely believe I have found that better guy. He tells me everyday that I am perfect to him (trust me I'm far from it) but somehow I have him fooled!

I know all the time you hear the advice "Be confident," but no one tells you HOW to gain that confidence. I hope this helps some of you! All I can tell you is that confidence works and how I got it.

I am so excited! Now I have not been a huge Michael Jackson fan (in all honesty I did and still do think he was a very strange man). But I like to be prepared so in preparation for the concert I got on YouTube and listened to as many MJ songs as I could find. Oddly enough I realized I knew almost every single one, I just didn't know that MJ sang them.

So the doors opened at 11 and I got there with my friends around 11:05. There were so many people it was unbelievable. Without a doubt it was the most popular event I have been to in the city. We waited in line for a little over an hour. When we finally got inside the place was already packed and there was still a long line behind us.

Once inside we had to wait another hour for the band to start. I have to say the energy in the room was explosive! As soon as the band started playing I had an epiphany...I MISSED MICHAEL JACKSON!!! I never thought I would say this and I'm still surprised but after listening to his music I wanted more and I realized there will never be anymore MJ music.

All right...enough sad talk. I want to share a new make-up product that I found and have fallen in love with. It is Revlon's powder blush with a pop up mirror compact. I have to say the pop up mirror is very handy and it's genius because it is hidden underneath the compact so it doesn't get covered with blush. I love the color I got (smoky rose) and it was reasonably priced for someone on a tight budget like me ($9.37). It's very light and summery. I totally recommend it! Well that's all for now. He was not my "ex-boyfriend" he was an "ex-hookup." However, I must say there was a time when I was hoping he would be my bf. At least it ended with me ignoring his calls, that gives me some dignity right? So if you would like to check him out go here. Of course I thought Oh he will just always be a bouncer. I also never got a picture with him which is what really annoys me. What if he becomes famous??? Oh well I still have his number and my friends' testimonies. Oh and my current BF treats me 100 times better :).

I stole this from his facebook (It's not TOO creepy...we are facebook friends)

Videos of Kate Gosselin Top 10 Angry Moments

First of all I want to say thank you to all my followers! Reading all your blogs is so interesting to me and I LOVE your sweet comments. Each time I get one I get so excited it's almost pitiful.

So anyway my last post before the weekend two words...Jon and Kate. So many people have been blogging about this. I kept wanting to link this article into your comments but there were so many blogs about it I just decided to write my own so you can check out the article here.

This article includes 10 videos of Kate's "Top 10 Angry Moments."

Many of my friends had been sympathizing with Kate saying she didn't deserve this and so on. Get Away With Murder

So I have a separate book blog but I figured one day a week I would post about the book I'm reading on this blog. This weeks book:

This book is written by Mike Gilbert who was the former sports agent of O.J. Simpson.

Everyone loves a scandal. You can't find a juicier story than this in fiction. I know the whole O.J. thing is old news and I *thought* I knew a lot about the trial.

After reading this book I had a different view of O.J. himself. He became more human to me through the eyes of his sports agent. This book is very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat.

This book also gives you hints as to why the defense was so brilliant, the events that led to the murder, the whole "glove" situation, and lots more.

I really enjoyed it and feel much more informed about the case now (I remember my mom watching it but I was pretty young).

The book also includes photos of O.J. and Nicole early in their relationship.

Plus like I said it was almost like reading a novel. Romance, passion, betrayal, money, murder...what more can you ask for?

Song of the Day: "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cityinternlife.blogspot.com/2009/06/how-i-helped-oj-get-away-with-murder.html' title='How I Helped O.J. Since I love a big crowd I decided to go up and take a closer look. Apparently, a new movie is being filmed in D.C. The movie cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd. So I manipulated my way to the front of the crowd and talked to a kid with a headset and walkie talkie. While in this position I got a great view of the filming across the street...and then I saw him PAUL RUDD! He is much shorter in person much to my disappointment (I'm 5'8"). I did snap a picture to share with you.

Unfortunately the picture is awful quality but Paul Rudd is standing in that group of people and you can see the huge white reflection screen and cranes and crowds of people.

But the story does not end here! I decided to stick around the mostly deserted street corner by the trailers for a good 30 minutes after they finished filming. As I stood there awkwardly with my cousin a young kid with headphones and a walkie talkie (there were about 3 MILLION of them) came to our corner staring at a map.

Me: (to my cousin) Wouldn't it be awesome if he asked us for directions?

No sooner had these words left my mouth when he turns to us and asks if we can show him where a certain street is. We quickly obliged and after he left were discussing whether we should go to the next location and stalk some more. Than I noticed that headphone kid had dropped a paper. I picked it up and realized that I was holding the whole filming schedule in my hands. EVERYTHING times, locations, days, hotel pick-up times for the stars. I couldn't believe my luck! So readers I will be spending the next few evening stalking Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon, and Owen Wilson :).

Song of the Day (I'm going to start doing this everyday): Gravity by Sara Bareilles

Quick Note

Hey! So I know Michelle Obama's clothes have been praised (recently by the likes of Diane von Furstenberg). However, in my humble opinion I must say that while some of her outfits are quite nice and fashionable there's a mix of the good the bad and the ugly. Now keep in mind I think Michelle Obama a very attractive woman, but sometimes I do not understand the outfits. Instead of just talking let me show you what I mean.

Very nice. Classic suite. Cute hair. Jewelry accents very nice.

O.K. so here I think the ruffles are a bit much. I feel like she's wearing a feather boa.

Here I just have to say "NO." Firstly I feel the outfit would be better on a hippie (or Mary-Kate or Ashley) and not the first lady. Secondly the make-up is over done in my opinion. Thirdly, what is that thing on her wrist???

Now please, I am asking for the opinions of others. Especially people who know fashion better than I do. I believe the best fashion advice is to dress yourself in whatever YOU look best in. I feel this last dress is not very figure flattering. I know all the fashion people praise her so she must be doing something right. Please let me know your opinions, maybe I'm just crazy!

Disney ruined boys

I saw an advertisement on the metro the yesterday. I have searched the internet endlessly for it but with no luck so I will try to describe it to you. The poster showed a man and a woman sleeping. While the woman was sleeping peacefully the man had his mouth open with a silly expression (like he was snoring). The text at the top of the ad read "He may not always be charming but he's still your prince."
SO true! I used to have a major complex about this. I've decided that the root of this problem started when I was a little girl and the culprit was Disney. Why does Disney show you such unrealistic expectations of men???? (And women too for that matter). Now I have noticed a trend in recent Disney movies that depict princes as less than charming (Shrek and Enchanted to name a few) but my generation is ruined forever.
As I said I used to have a huge complex over this issue. As soon as a guy I was dating showed his flaws I was out the door. I wanted prince charming...not some immature, whiny, jealous, awkward man.
Then I met the BF. He is by no means perfect and he never will be but he is real (which is tremendously important) and not a fairy tale. Yes sometimes he is immature and sometimes he gets jealous but he loves ME even when I'M immature and whiny and jealous and awkward (which I definitely tend to be).
It was funny that I saw that poster yesterday because last night my lovely cousin and I decided to go out for trivia night at a bar/pub with a family friend of hers and his coworker at the FBI. If there is one thing that boyfriends will become insecure about it's an FBI man...trust me (Both or our BF's are living in different states right now) Both my cousin and I experienced different reactions from our BF's. While mine turned in to a grumpy two-year-old and called me constantly her BF simply decided to ignore her. Neither really endearing behaviors. As I was wallowing in my anger that ad from the metro came to mind. I felt the maybe I should give him a break...he wasn't being charming by any means...but he is still and always will be my prince.

Ex-Miss California a.k.a. Carrie Prejean

So yesterday I saw ex-Miss Calif a.k.a. Carrie Prejean. As a tall blonde myself I saw pictures of her and idolized the way she looked. I asked myself questions like "How does her hair look so perfect? How does she have that perfect tan? How does she have such a perfect body?" (Until the whole implant scandal came to light).
Carrie Prejean is a classic example of why normal women hate themselves.
So yesterday I saw her in real life. I hate those celebrity gawkers so I didn't really get a long look at her. I did get enough of a look to notice three things.
1. She's not as super tall in person
2. Her hair is most certainly not perfect and on the frizzy side.
3. Her spray on tan was in the later stages a.k.a. blotchy and washing off.
Now I will say that she is a very attractive girl. However, I cannot help (gleefully) realizing that she is NOT perfect. Which makes me as a normal young female feel MUCH better about myself. Maybe if I were on TV I would also look airbrushed and perfect? Women everywhere TAKE HEART...no one is perfect.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cityinternlife.blogspot.com/2009/06/ex-miss-california-aka-carrie-prejean.html' title='Ex-Miss California a.k.a.
